“Prayer does not fit us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work.”
~ Oswald Chambers.
Your first reaction to this invitation may be: “We pray for the Unreached anyway….”
There is something special that happens in our hearts when we pray specifically and begin to intentionally work together on the monumental task of reaching the unreached.
When we focus our prayers on a specific people group, we begin to hear God’s heart for those people. They move from being mere statistics to being real people who, like us, desperately need to meet Jesus.
Apply to be matched with a SPECIFIC UNREACHED PEOPLE GROUP/PLACE and a representative of a field team working there (if there is one at present).
- Be at least 2 – 3 people who meet regularly. You may be a House of Prayer, a Church group, Youth group or simply a group of friends.
- Pray at least one hour weekly as a community for your specific unreached people/place, recording how God is leading you to pray and any sense you receive from the Lord regarding this effort to share with your partner field team weekly or bi-weekly. (Note: It’s okay to miss a week occasionally for holidays or travel—the point is that your regular, weekly rhythm includes praying for this unreached people or place)
- Keep a Prayer Journal for your unreached people/place, communicating and sharing key points weekly or bi-weekly with your field team. Receive from your partner field team weekly or bi-weekly prayer, praise, and progress reports and share with your team your prayers and words from the Lord for your unreached people/place.
- The most important commitment of 24:14 Inherit the Nations is this: to carry a nation, a people that you’ve never met in your heart. To be God’s heart for a people far off, as it says in Isaiah 65:1, “I was sought by those who did not ask for Me; I was found by those who did not seek Me. I said, ‘Here I am, here I am!’ to a nation that was not called by My name.”
Be sure you each have a personal intercessory team for your own prayer cover and expect God to respond!
